Skunk Funk

After applying sunscreen, it is imperative to that you wait at least 30 minutes before going outdoors and/or exposing yourself to the sun. This allows the product to be absorbed into your skin for maximum effectiveness. Going out under the sun straight away would be like going out without sun protection at all (well, until the product kicks in)!

Organize your Bag

Bag organiser

I don’t know why I’ve put up with it for years and years! All the trouble and heart ache. I’m talking about a messy bag of course. You know, having all sorts chucked in your hand bag that finding anything is more like doing a lucky dip, only with all the fun sucked out from it. That was the case for me until I upgraded to a more expensive bag. Somehow, the thought of leaky pens and smeared bubble gum just wasn’t acceptable any more.

A really simple and inexpensive trick to organising handbags is to use a pencil case or a mini makeup-case to hold loose items. I use the makeup-case that I got from a show bag at the Canberra Easter Show to contain my small handbag necessities such as my vaseline lip balm (I don’t go anywhere without it) and hand cream. Now a days, if I need to moisten my chapped lips, I no longer play hide and seek with my hand bag. I just go for my mini-case, unzip, then presto! Works every time.

I received a free copy today of Runner’s World’s July issue for participating in this year’s Canberra Marathon (just one of the post race perks). I’ve been thinking about subscribing to it for awhile now so this gave me a chance to get a first hand look at the info I can expect each month.

One interesting tidbit that caught my attention was about tomato juice and how it can help protect against harmful UV radiation. The article highlighted a study conducted by the University of Manchester and New England showing that people who consumed tomato juice were 33% more protected against the suns rays.

So to those, like me, who love the benefits of running outdoors but are concerned about the negative effects of too much sun, bottoms up to tomato juice!

One of the quickest way to cross contaminate is to BLOW- blow on your makeup brushes or if you are applying makeup on someone else, to blow on their face.

To remove excess powder on your makeup brush, please, please, pretty-please tap or shake!

In the case of you making up a family/friend/stranger and you find some AWOL makeup on their face-remove the offending flecks with a clean tissue, sponge or makeup brush and never ever with your bacteria packed breath!

I wasn’t blessed with the smooth clear skin gene thus I went through high school feeling very self conscious with bad skin. My mum told me at the time to just grin and bear it as they (the unsightly acne and blemishes) would eventually clear and go away. Well into my twenties, I was still waiting for that day to come. Thankfully with a more proactive approach, now my skin is in better condition. Here are some tips I’ve implemented that helped me achieve the best skin I possibly could.

Going Au Naturale

March 29th, 2008

no makeup, without makeup I find that wearing makeup makes my skin more prone to break outs. Make it a point to go ‘au naturale’ as much as possible. That way, you can give your skin a break and you’ll always get a bigger WOW effect each time you make the effort to put your “face on”.
