Come 5th of June, I’ve consigned myself to be one of the throngs of die hard ‘Sex and The City’ Fans to line up and watch the much anticipated TV show-turned-movie. I have to be honest, I fall more under “curious” in the movie goer category for I never religiously watched the TV series. Sure I used to watch it from time to time…whenever I happen to find myself up at the ungodly hour (I needed as much beauty sleep as I could get) with no good book or home movie to watch but never ever did I drop everything to be in front of the TV with cheesecake (my choice of naughty snack food at the time). I do recall however doing an SATC marathon back in 2006 when my significant other left me in Tokyo (we were living there at the time) all by my lonesome self for a whole week to attend a friend’s wedding (he by the way failed my only request of bringing back tons of wedding snaps especially of the bride. Hurumph..). That said, what Beauty Blog not cover SATC? Thus, as I already mentioned, I’ve cleared out my diary for Thursday, pre-ordered my movie ticket and rummaging my closet for a fitting outfit. Hope to pull of a 9 (outfit rating), 7.5 the least.
Below are some of the reviews floating in the ether for the lucky individuals who got to see the movie before us.
TimesOnline UK ”..There may be a problem with stretching Sex and the City into a two hour and twenty minute film - it can feel like a never ending dinner party: however pleasant the courses, after a while you can hardly eat another one. ”
Telegraph UK ”..It was coarse, sentimental, and outrageously materialistic - just as we hoped and expected it would be. ”
CelebrityWonder “If you’re the type of fan that has no problem watching 5 episodes back-to-back, then this movie is for you. But where the TV show was shocking and pushed the boundaries of female empowerment, the movie seems relatively subdued and tame by comparison ”
NYDailyNews “The real joy of “SATC” as a movie lies in the return of all those things that mass television syndication has stripped from the series in the intervening years. The “Oh, my God, they did not just do that!” moments, the nudity, the swearing, the unabashed love of human frailty and downright wackiness. Snappy, verbal sparring punctuates the laughs and more than a few shed-a-tear moments. ”

mlive.com “The nagging problem is that the whole thing is so overdone it becomes a distraction from the real relationship drama at the movie’s heart, and ultimately an absurd joke… it’s not really a movie… it’s not really a movie…It’s a clothes catalog that talks. ”
